WARM SLIPPERS

The range from an unusual angle. My cousin Josephine's feet. And the ever present slippers warming beneath the range. My family got me, indoor plumbing, and that range the same year. A phone did not follow until 1980. That turf fired range cooked the meals and heated the house and the water. I was heartbroken when recently it was gotten rid of and replaced with central heat.
REFUGEE

Originally done in pencil, then later made a limited number print of this. I was quite pleased with it. It was supposed to be a Jewish refugee during WWII. Then a veteran explained to me that the helmets I used were WWI helmets. Whatever. It was a pretty good drawing, in my opinion.
AND THEN HE SAID...

Just a couple of girls from the convent school, outside the shop on their way home, talking about what else - boys.
HONDA 50

Like most of my paintings, this one is pretty large. As I recall, it is about 4 feet high. Inspired by the days when The Saw Doctors used to ride onstage on a Honda 50. (Subject: Co. Sligo farmer, Sean Mullaney) Who you ask are The Saw Doctors? Just one of my favourite bands. To learn more about them go here.
AFTER THE BALL WAS OVER

I don't usually paint in watercolor. But for some reason I did with this. This is my beautiful daughter Brigid and I would give anything to have the painting because I no longer have her. Brigid had an artificial leg and she asked me to paint a picture of her with two legs. I would never sell a painting of my kids but when her father visited us in Ireland he begged me for the painting. At the time I felt well I have her, let him at least have the painting. Of course my son, Tony, immediately went into a panic and put a little knife slash in one of his paintings figuring I might sell it and I couldn't sell a damaged painting!
2006 ANAM STUDIOS. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
There are many more paintings. MANY. Drawings. However, some were sold. Some were given away or donated. And all were photographed, long before I envisioned having a website. However, I lived in Florida for some years. Waterfront property. Hurricanes. Floods. You get the idea. Bit by bit I hope to contact people and get photographs. And periodically, when I feel inspired and have time, there will be new paintings. So check back now and then.
